Here’s another important FrontierVille Tip, this time its about dealing with varmints and what triggers them to appear. Varmints are creatures that randomly appear during clearing and harvesting. They cannot hurt you but doing actions while in their vicinity costs extra energy. Varmints are of three types and it might be just possible that there would be more as the game progresses. These are snakes, bears and groundhog (mole). While the snake and the bear may look fearsome, they actually cannot touch you.

varm FrontierVille Tips: Varmints

Now you might be wondering why should you bother look for varmints, well the answer’s simple. Varmints drop a large amount of loot, especially when there’s an ongoing coin bonus. The amount you receive is quite staggering. That is why, I always look for ways to trigger Varmints. Here are some of the ways to trigger or shall we say summon Varmints:

  • Snakes- snakles hide in skeletons, rocks and sometimes in grass. Snakes are likely the first varmint that you’ll encounter and its a no-brainer that you should hunt for snakes early on to increase your gold coins and experience. A snake’s appearance is usually cued by a hissing sound.

bear FrontierVille Tips: Varmints

  • Bears – they appear to look fearsome and huge but guess what? They are afraid of you and all they need is a good scare before passing out. Bears appear when you cut down the larger pine tress as well as oak trees.  Upon hearing a growling sound, you can be very sure that there’s a bear on your homestead.

  • GroundHogs- groundhog appearances are not as frequent really as compared to bears and snakes. They only appear when you are harvesting. Actually they are quite annoying since they pop from one place to another after being clobbered. But then again, its well worth the effort.

So there you have it, now that you know what the varmints are, its time to look and clobber them! You will gain so much for less effort. Another important tip to remember is that you can instantly KO a varmint if it falls outside your homestead, this usually occurs on varmints appearing on the lower right portion of the screen.

I guess that just covers everything about varmints, stay tuned for more Frontierville Cheats, Tips and Tricks.

FrontierVille Tips: Varmints – but this whacking cost energy points. And that groundhog comes up repeatedly if you are harvesting a lot of crops- or trying to harvest but can’t because you have no energy left!

i CAN’T GET MORE BEARS TO SHOW UP. i HAVE 40 OR MORE TREES. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 5 DAYS FOR THOSE TREES TO MATURE AND THE OAK WON’T GO PAST 4 CHOPS AND THE PINE TO 3. I HAVE THEM CLUSTERED TOGETHER AND AND I ONLY CHOP THE OLDEST ONES TRYING TO FIND A BEAR. WILL THE NEW TREES MATURE PAST THIS? WILL THE BEARS ONLY COME OUT OF MATURE TREES?

There are also foxes!! im at level 8 and ive seen a fox. Apparently if you leave these they can kill ya chickens (and ive also heard that leaving the groundhogs will destroy ya crops)

I don’t think the fox will kill your chickens if you don’t clobber it not will the groundhog destroy your crops. At least it hasn’t happened to me and I usually leave the same fox on my farm for days.

If you don’t want to mess with them (like if you’d rather be harvesting potatoes to reach a goal instead of gaining exp or coins or food by clobbering a groundhog), just leave them there. I’ve found that you only get one of each varmint at a time. You can have a bear, a fox, a groundhog, and a snake on your homestead but you won’t get more than one of each varmint.

Can’t get a bear. Cut down many of trees but no bear! Also, when they had the gingerbread house right before Christmas, went to play and my house was gone! I’m at level 74 and about to get fed up with Frontierville. I guess they just want the players that spend real money!
