Actually there are arguments if this is a Frontierville Cheat or just an exploit. Varmints are quite helpful during the earlier stages of the game but become downright annoying once their drops become negligible or to near little value.
The groans that follow once a bear/snake/groundhog appears resonates all throughout the frontier, Its not really worth wasting your energy on clobbering varmints for their xp/gold. However most of the time we do not have a choice. Until some clever players revealed this somehow already obvious varmint exploit.
The game only allows one sprite for each varmint on your homestead. This means that only one snake will appear at a time, so unless you get rid of that snake, there’ll be no other snake that will spawn. But this does not mean that other varmints won’t appear. Of course bears and groundhogs will still appear but will also be limited to one only.
Now that you know the secret, its time to get creative. Try to spawn varmints on corners and near edges (but don’t push them out as this will kill them instantly) and then just leave them there and go on with your clearing.
This exploit is very helpful particularly if you’re clearing your homestead of weeds,tress and whatnots. This will minimize energy lossess due to varmint clobbering and will hasten your clearing
